Message from the Instructor
Hello everyone! I'm Chikage Kimura, a yoga instructor, and I'll be teaching yoga classes at BETA.
I teach Kripalu Yoga. While there are many types of yoga, Kripalu Yoga focuses on concentrating on your mind and body while holding poses, observing what's happening within yourself, and accepting your state as it is to deepen self-understanding. It's a tool you can apply to everyday life.
In class, we'll practice basic yoga poses, meditation, and breathing techniques. While yoga is often associated with flexible bodies and difficult poses, it doesn't matter if your body is stiff or flexible, whether you're young or old, or have stamina or not—you just move within your current capacity. There's no need to compare yourself to others or replicate the teacher's poses exactly. By continuing yoga, you'll gradually build strength and flexibility.
Mentally, by focusing on your mind and body through yoga, you'll become aware of mental and physical states you didn't notice before. This enhances concentration and makes it easier to relax.
Through practicing this yoga myself, I've gained physical strength, my body has become aligned, and I feel less stressed in daily life. I felt my body and mind becoming lighter. I could also apply yoga breathing techniques and body awareness to my climbing hobby, with positive results.
Whether you want to move your body and refresh, feel stressed from daily busyness, or are interested in meditation—if you have any interest in yoga, please feel free to join us.
