Outdoor Lead Climbing Beginner Workshop
We hold outdoor lead climbing workshops every month in outdoor settings. We offer two courses: [Super Beginner Workshop] and [Workshop].
This workshop is designed for outdoor beginners who want to climb rock faces with ropes, including not only those who do bouldering and lead climbing at gyms, but also mountaineers who haven't done much climbing.
At Beta's workshops, you can climb until you're satisfied!
Basically, you'll climb on top ropes set up by staff, with staff belaying. If there's a route you want to climb, we'll set up a rope for it. If you want to climb more, we'll belay until sunset.
Beta helps you become an independent climber!
If you want to lead climb or practice belaying, please consult with us. We'll practice mock leading, leading, or belaying according to your skill level.
Recommended for:
- •Want to climb outdoor rock faces with ropes
- •Want to try lead climbing, not just bouldering
- •Want to safely climb chains and ladders in mountaineering
- •Want to prepare for challenging variation routes
- •Want to climb outdoors regularly
- •Want to be able to go to outdoor crags independently
- •Want to practice leading and belaying
If you want to climb natural rock faces with ropes, please join us. We especially encourage mountaineers focused on variations to participate. Learning to climb not only increases the routes you can access but also improves safety.
Before participating, please learn the basics of rope tying and lead climbing systems in advance. If you don't know these, please join the Lead Climbing Beginner Course held on Beta's 3rd floor. ※Not mandatory.

Top rope climbing on short routes
Staff will set up top ropes, and participants climb on top rope. If there's a specific route you want to climb, we'll set up a top rope upon request. Based on past experience, we set up about 4-6 routes (5.7-5.11 grade range) per day, and participants typically try 4-8 times.
“Super Beginner Workshop” Course
Top rope only, climbing routes up to grades 5.7-5.10. We don't do difficult routes.
“Workshop” Course
Primarily top rope climbing. Grades up to about 5.11. Upon request and considering participants' skills, you can also practice leading and belaying.
If you want to practice leading, you'll first climb with mock lead, and if you can climb stably, actual leading is possible.
