[2F] Complete renovation completed October 2024 Guest setter Ryohei Kameyama, Akira Nagasako, Ryoga Tsukada

2nd floor full renewal completed

We invited three guest setters, Kameyama Ryohei, Tsukada Ryoga, and Nagasako Mei, and carried out a full renewal of the 2nd floor from October 22nd to 23rd.

This is Kameyama’s first time doing a set at BETA, and it’s a rare opportunity to experience Kameyama’s problems in the Kanto region. He has also made some low-grade problems, so I hope you can experience the Kameyama world!
I recommend the problems at around level 4, which require a lot of brainpower!

I don’t know how many times Tsukada has done BETA (lol).
The more challenging problems may stand out, but the roof problems are relatively easy(?), so I hope even those who are not good at them will try them out!

Nagasako, who was well-received last time for his set on the first floor, made 110-degree and 120-degree problems, with the roof as the main focus.
These problems have relatively large movements, so those who are not used to them may find them difficult, but let’s do our best!

These are mainly low-grade problems, but there are also Rei-kun and Yusei problems.

Ryohei Kameyama

I have offered him many offers before, and this time I was finally able to ask him.

Kameyama-san is an active participant in competitions such as the Japan Cup and Japan Tour, and has also competed in the World Cup.

However, I, Shun, think of him more as a rock climber.

Recently, he has been challenging Burden of Dreams (V17) and was the third climber of Floatin (V16) at Mizugaki, so he is extremely strong.

He himself has commented that “I’m good at and like steep slopes,” and this time he is one of the climbers who is perfect for the second floor set.

He also said that he would like to continue challenging overseas boulders, including Burden, so he is a climber to look forward to in the future.

Please enjoy Ryohei Kameyama’s problems, which are quite rare in the Kanto region!

Mei Nagasako

This is Mei Nagasako, who we invited to the set on the first floor about 10 months ago!

After becoming independent, she is a popular setter who seems to set in various places both domestically and internationally.
In the previous set, we created the most difficult levels for each grade (just by chance. Really just by chance),
and I think that left a strong impression on you.
I hope they wreaked havoc on the second floor too.

Tsukada Ryoga Tsukada

You may be familiar with him from Beta.

He may have a strong image as a competitive player, but he has an incredibly strong grip and is a good match for Beta.
Of course, he is also good at delicate positioning.
I’m sure many people have struggled with Ryoga’s problems, so I hope he will give you another hard time next time!

Shun really likes Ryoga’s slabs, so next time I’d like to invite him to the first floor…

Full renewal of the first floor completed

We invited guests Daisuke Konishi, who climbs 5th grade boulders and 14c lead, and Moeki Toda, who has competed in the Japan Cup and World Cup, to complete the renewal of the first floor from August 7th to 8th.

This is Konishi’s third time setting up at BETA. The impression is that there are many low-grade problems that are rhythmic and comfortable to climb, making you want to climb them repeatedly. The high-grade problems are a good match for BETA, which has a reputation for having bad feet, and the tough problems are memorable.

Toda also climbs high-grade problems of stage 4 on outdoor rock, but I think he is still seen as a competitor.
There are many low-grade problems that require you to be conscious of your position and footwork, and there may be many stylish moves.
There are already many people who have struggled with high-grade problems, so I hope he will try to find a position and try and error.

I think there were many problems that tested the flexibility of the hip joints last time, but I wonder what it will be like this time.
I hope you will do the monthly problems and try the new problems as well.

Beta Climbing Gym Route Set Daisuke Konishi

Daisuke Konishi
Daisuke Konishi, also known as “DaiDai”.
A dual-wielding climber who climbs 5th grade boulders and 14c lead.
Recently, he climbed Ninja 14a on Ogawayama in three tries.
He has a wealth of experience in both lead and boulder route setting.

He is also active in areas other than route setting, such as building holds and running a school.

Homare Toda
She has participated in the Japan Cup and the World Cup, and has also won the Asian Youth Championship.

A long time ago, she was paired with Atori Yasuda, who was working part-time at Beta, as a lead representative for Yamanashi Prefecture.

Recently, she has obtained the C-class certified route setter qualification, and is expanding her activities as a setter.

She is currently working at the Basecamp.

Full Renewal of the 1st Floor Completed

We invited slab master Keita Watanabe and Miwa Oba, known for her role as a high school girl climbing a school building (that’s old…), as guests, and we carried out a full renewal of the 1st floor from April 23rd to 24th.

Watabe-san has a strong image as a competitive, sport climber, but in fact, he grew up climbing outdoors, and started bouldering and lead climbing when he was in elementary school. We had a little chat, and we shared the same idea: “I want everyone who climbs mountains to climb!”. He was a perfect match for Beta, who is oriented towards outdoor rock climbing.

Oba-san mainly works on outdoor rock, and is also an instructor at Dai Oyamada’s gym, “Project.” He seems to have been climbing frequently in Futako recently, and I’ve seen him on Instagram. There’s no way we wouldn’t invite Miwa-san to Beta.
She came to visit us, but it’s been several years since she last set up. That means ⁉️ Yes, Beta is the only place in the world where you can climb Miwa Oba’s problems!! !

We have a wide variety of problems, from basic problems that teach basic moves to outdoor rock and modern problems.

Beta Climbing Gym Route Set Keita Watanabe

Keita Watanabe
Born on August 30, 1993 in Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture. He started climbing in the second grade of elementary school and has been challenging himself on rock faces in the Tokai region ever since.
He also achieved good results in competitions, winning the JFA Youth Championships in 2008 and 2010, and came second in the Japan Cup in 2015, which led to him competing in the World Cup.
In 2017, he came second in the Japan Cup and placed third in the first World Cup event. He then won his first event in the third event in Nanjing, China, and finished the season in fourth place in the IFSC Climbing World Cup 2017 Bouldering Annual Rankings, his highest ranking to date.
Since then, he has continued to compete, while also putting his efforts into promoting climbing through activities such as giving lectures.

Ooba Miwa
She started climbing at the age of 9 and achieved brilliant results in Japan and Asia as a youth. She was selected to represent Japan in the bouldering event. In 2015, she appeared in a commercial for a major internet service provider, which was viewed over 1 million times in one week, attracting media attention. Her strengths are the flexibility, sense of balance, and long reach of her limbs that she has developed through gymnastics. Currently, she focuses on natural rock climbing, and is also actively involved in promoting sport climbing.

We invited Jun Shimizu, Mimoto Satsuki, and Ayane Sakai as guests, and we conducted a complete renovation of the 2nd floor from February 13th to 15th.

We have a set of challenges that will help you hit hard and become stronger for 6 months.
In addition to improving retention, there are many issues that require balance and sequencing that cannot be solved with strength alone.
That’s right, Satsuki-san and Sakai-san are 150cm tall. You can’t use it as a reason not to reach.

Beta Climbing Gym Route Set Atsushi Shimizu

Jun Shimizu
Mr. Jun Shimizu, also known as “Simiatsu”.
He previously won the BJC in 2011, and has continued to aim for a high grade of rock, with his highest grade being 5th grade.

Currently, he is the representative of Setter Cheap “Simiatsu Production” and is active in various fields such as hold rental, video production, and apparel planning.
Oh yeah, Daisuke Ichinomiya is also part of Simiatsu Productions. That was bad, wasn’t it? You can expect bad challenges this time too.
We have also introduced a new die hold, so the badness is doubled! have fun!

It’s interesting to work on assignments where you don’t quite understand the steps.

This will be his second appearance in the beta. Last time it was on the 1st floor. She said that she was nervous on the 2nd floor, but she was able to create assignments that were perfect for Ayane. Enjoy everyone!
