[Outdoor crag] Super Beginner Lead Practice Meeting Held at Mt. Washuzu

Beta Climbing Gym | Outdoor crag Seminar/Super beginner lead practice session

On June 10th, Outdoor crag Super Beginner Reed Practice was held at Mt. Washizu.

This time, 8 people had applied, but we told them that the challenges they could climb might be limited due to the rain in the daytime the day before. was canceled, and as a result, 6 people participated.

All participants are women. Unexpectedly, it became “Outdoorcrag Ladies’ Day”.

Although it was a “super beginner” practice session, the participants had a wide range of skills and ages, from strong boulderers to first-time climbers with rental shoes, and everyone was facing their own challenges.
Enjoying the rocks outside for the first time, rappelling and climbing back up, trying on-site for the first time on the route, taking photos and eating cup ramen (laughs)

That’s right, you can do various things in this rocky place.
It is also a rocky place with sports-related challenges where 12 cars were climbed for the first time in Japan, and it has been used for rope work, rappelling, and crampons training by local mountaineering clubs for a long time. It’s a rocky place with a deep nostalgia.

I’m glad that everyone seemed to enjoy Sotoiwa.
I was a little worried about whether it would be held the day before, but I’m really glad I held it!

Oh yeah, “manbo” is “Sunfish” in English!

[Dry tooling] Outdoor crag experience session was held 6/3-4

Beta Climbing Gym | Sotoiwa Workshop/Dry Touring

We held a dry tooling Sotoiwa experience meeting for the second time this year.
Just like last time, two World Copper members, JUNKO and Masato, served as instructors.
On the second day, dry toolers from Sendai also came to the rocky area and it was lively.

Ropes are stretched on four routes, and everyone tries to tackle their own goals with equipment that suits them.
Yes, the equipment for dry touring varies from person to person.

In the dry touring competition, dry tooling ax and pick, and flute boots (shoes with crampons) are used.
If you’re thinking of practicing alpine, ice ax, dry pick, winter boots and crampons.
If you want to enjoy it casually, you can bring a dry ax and climbing shoes. .

There are also a variety of dry axes, picks, and flute boots, and it is one of the pleasures to stick to your own tools.

During breaks, we often talk about tools.

Nikka Whiskey’s Miyagino distillery is near the rocky place, and you can purchase limited products at the shop.
It is also a hot spring area, and some people stay at hot spring inns.
If you would like to stay with the staff, please stay in a cottage near the rocks. Of course, the hot spring in the cottage draws the source of Akiu Onsen.
For those who want to soothe their tired body from the first day in the hot springs and have a drink, enjoy the Miyagino Distillery’s limited whiskey and local sake before going to bed. .

It was a fun experience.
Will next year be next year?
Let’s have fun again!

Beta climbing gym training Kai・Dry Touring Top Rope Session

The dry touring Sotoiwa experience session has ended, and the opportunity to climb using flute boots has disappeared.
You think! “Kazuo-san won’t disappoint you~.”
Bring your flute boots for this dry touring top rope session!
Winter shoes and crampons are fine. . If you don’t have one, of course climbing shoes are fine.

This is a session for dry tooling experienced people.
Experienced doesn’t have to be good. If you have taken “Introduction to dry tooling“, you are an “experienced person”.

It’s also the only chance to vertically climb Beta’s face wall with an ice ax and a rope. Feel free to enjoy!
(Usually, if you use the gym and climb the 3rd floor dry challenge, climbing using a rope is prohibited for safety reasons.)

The route was set by Mr. Kazuhiro Kodaira, who is known as “Kazuo-san” in the dry tooling community. They always put their ingenuity and prepare a fun route.

Not only dry tooling enthusiasts, but also those who love ice climbing, please join us! “Perfect for off-season training and fun!”

【Climber × Judo therapist】Yuitaso Body Maintenance 6/14 (Wed), 21 (Wed)

Beta Climbing Gym Climber's Care | Body Maintenance

June body maintenance is 2 times, 14 (Wed) and 21 (Wed).
We want you to be calm and receive the treatment, so from this time onwards we will be performing the treatment in the free space on the 3.5th floor.
Oh yeah, you can receive body maintenance even if you don’t use the gym!

Yuitaso was suffering from wrist pain that was thought to be caused by climbing.
After doing a lot of research, he said that his own wrist was on the mend.

After becoming a judo therapist and interacting with patients, he seems to realize once again that it is difficult for climbers to deal with pain and disability.
Mostly not sick, basically healthy. . So it’s even more difficult to improve.
Extreme story, if you stop climbing, you’ll improve… but there’s no such choice. .

It may not be improved immediately, but I would be happy if you could maintain it while communicating.
It may also be an opportunity to know your body.

Date in June

14 (Wed) 18:00-21:00
21 (Wed) 18:00-21:00
Last reception 20:30 Beta 3.5F free space
