【Dry Tooling】 #71 Introductory Held on May 7th (Wednesday)

Beta Climbing Gym Seminar: Introduction to Dry Tooling

The trajectory of Haruko Takeuchi, who we introduced last month, and her overall victory at the Continental Open, has been summarized in an article. Please take a look. Let’s support her again next year!

Ice Climbing Continental Open – Haruko Takeuchi Wins Overall Championship

Now, let’s enjoy dry touring as a “fun muscle training” for next season’s ice!

Dry touring is climbing rock walls and artificial walls using ice axes and crampons.
In Europe and the United States, it is enjoyed by many people as a genre of climbing.

In Japan, there are many climbers who enjoy it as a competition or use it as training for ice climbing or alpine climbing.
This course is for those who want to start dry touring, or those who have experienced it a few times but want to learn the basics properly.

You will climb using axes, but if you don’t have your own axes, we will rent them, so don’t worry.
Also, those who have taken this course can rent axes for free at any time in the future!

Those who are using Beta’s dry wall for the first time should also take this course.
The instructor, Mepanna of Ginrei-kai, is not only into dry tooling, but also into a wide range of rock, ice, alpine, and other climbing, so please feel free to ask him anything!

You can take the introductory class as many times as you like, but once you graduate, you can practice on your own, or if you want to practice with everyone, you can use the “Dry Tooling Practice Session” if you want to hone your techniques and step up, “Dry Tooling Dojo” if you want to do so.

Held on Wednesday, May 7th!

Introduction to dry tooling – past events

【Dry Tooling】#39 Toprope Session held on April 23rd(Wed) Daytime 14:00~. Nighttime 19:30~

Beta climbing gym training | DryTouring TopRope Session

Let’s continue the fun muscle training!
This year’s ice season has come to an end.
Did you feel like you’ve grown at the end of the season?

It would be a shame to end ice climbing like this.
The skills and physical strength that have improved this season will go back to the way they were if we let it end like this.
That’s where dry tooling comes in. By getting used to your axe during the off-season, you’ll be able to face the ice easily next season!
Let’s have some fun muscle training with dry tweaks!

This is a session for dry touring experienced people.
Experienced doesn’t have to be good. If you have taken “Introduction to dry tooling“, you are an “experienced person”.

It’s also the only chance to vertically climb Beta’s face wall with an ice ax and a rope. Please feel free to enjoy!
(Usually, if you use the gym and climb the 3rd floor dry challenge, climbing using a rope is prohibited for safety reasons.)

The route was set by Mr. Hirokazu Kodaira, who is known as “Kazuo-san” in the dry touring community. They always put their ingenuity and prepare a fun route.

Not only dry touring enthusiasts, but also those who love ice climbing, please join us! “Perfect for off-season training and fun!”

If you are new to dry touring, please take “Introduction to dry tooling” first.
