Introduction to dry tooling Past events

[Dry tooling] Outdoor crag experience session was held 6/3-4

Beta Climbing Gym | Sotoiwa Workshop/Dry Touring

We held a dry tooling Sotoiwa experience meeting for the second time this year.
Just like last time, two World Copper members, JUNKO and Masato, served as instructors.
On the second day, dry toolers from Sendai also came to the rocky area and it was lively.

Ropes are stretched on four routes, and everyone tries to tackle their own goals with equipment that suits them.
Yes, the equipment for dry touring varies from person to person.

In the dry touring competition, dry tooling ax and pick, and flute boots (shoes with crampons) are used.
If you’re thinking of practicing alpine, ice ax, dry pick, winter boots and crampons.
If you want to enjoy it casually, you can bring a dry ax and climbing shoes. .

There are also a variety of dry axes, picks, and flute boots, and it is one of the pleasures to stick to your own tools.

During breaks, we often talk about tools.

Nikka Whiskey’s Miyagino distillery is near the rocky place, and you can purchase limited products at the shop.
It is also a hot spring area, and some people stay at hot spring inns.
If you would like to stay with the staff, please stay in a cottage near the rocks. Of course, the hot spring in the cottage draws the source of Akiu Onsen.
For those who want to soothe their tired body from the first day in the hot springs and have a drink, enjoy the Miyagino Distillery’s limited whiskey and local sake before going to bed. .

It was a fun experience.
Will next year be next year?
Let’s have fun again!

Introduction to dry tooling Past events

[Dry touring] Outdoor crag session meeting held 5/13-14

ベータクライミングジム|外岩講習会・ドライツーリング

We held a dry tooling outdoor crag session event.
Like last year, two World Copper members, JUNKO-sensei and Masato-san, acted as instructors.

On the first day, I changed the schedule and went to Futakuchi Gorge.
Since it was a small group, Mr. Masato took a photo from above.
That’s the first picture. Haven’t you seen it? This scheme. yes! It is a picture of the movie Alpinist!
It’s cool, isn’t it ~.
I enjoyed 3 routes on the top rope. One of them is on the lead.

Lacquer is a route pioneered by Mr. Masato, and is a practice exercise for placing your feet.
surely. . A route that can not be climbed unless you firmly decide your feet.

■ Climbed route
Dengeki Groove (D8*)
Lacquer -URUSHI- D7
Tyrant lower part (D6 *)

On the second day, a crag near Sendai.
I enjoyed 3 routes on the top rope.
This route is a solid sport route that is different from crampons training.
It’s tough. It seems that the first outdoor dry tooling has been baptized.

The gym can’t do it.
Ax switching, long and short. Even if you observe, another hold from the first hand…
After receiving a lecture from Mr. JUNKO about it, I tried again.
Mr. Masato advised, “Feel the expression of the rock!”
I can’t feel it…

It seemed like a good experience.
